Summary from Goodreads:
She's fought death and won. But how can she fight her fears?

Avry knows hardship and trouble. She fought the plague and survived. She took on King Tohon and defeated him. But now her heart-mate, Kerrick, is missing, and Avry fears he's gone forever.

But there's a more immediate threat. The Skeleton King plots to claim the Fifteen Realms for his own. With armies in disarray and the dead not staying down, Avry's healing powers are needed now more than ever.Torn between love and loyalty, Avry must choose her path carefully. For the future of her world depends on her decision.

Thoughts:
It's never a good sign when you have to practically struggle to finish the final book in a series. And I did struggle a lot to understand what the hell is going on while trying desperately to recall what happened in the previous book.

For one, we can see a radical character development. Avry; the desperate fugitive is now a respected healer highly sough after by both forces of the war while Kerrick; her previous captor is heads over heels in love with her. And now that they've been through hell and back trying to rid the Fifteen Realms of evil, their bond of love is stronger than ever to the point it became very annoying to read the mushiness between both of them.

It would have been more exciting if Kerrick did not spend most of the time going missing in the forest which drives Avry crazy with worry and despair. And while we do get a happy ending, I can't help but feel that as the final book Taste of Darkness is a bit disappointing and very predictable.
